Amaranthus Pygmy Torch does not grow as tall as other amaranth varieties. Good heat tolerance. Upright crimson red colored flower spike. Pygmy Torch grows to about 36 inches, and matures in 65 to 75 days. It will grow best with 12 to 15 inch spacing.
Amaranthus Hypochondriacus Pygmy Torch has upright plumes of crimson red that rise above the foliage. Pygmy Torch makes a splendid ornamental addition to the garden and/or the vase. The leaves turn a green to burgundy color.
Amaranthus growing conditions will depend on region and climate. Growing season is from early spring to fall. Areas of little to no frost will have a longer growing season.
